Constipation: Many Possible Causes
Constipation may be caused by many things. Some causes are localized,
and may include megacolon, tumors or hernia. Others causes are extrinsic,
such as inadequate bile or pancreatic secretions.
Often, other factors can lead to constipation: overeating, poor abdominal
muscle structure due to lack of physical exercise or not responding immediately
to the call of nature. Nervous tension, too, can cause the muscles to
contract, reducing overall digestive activity.
