According to a study conducted by researchers at the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention, reducing the consumption of fatty foods is not enough to reduce a high cholesterol level. However, if physical activity is also practiced, the results are more convincing.
In this study, 377 people followed two different programs. The first group followed a low-fat diet. The second group, as well as following the same diet, also exercised 3 hours per week.
After one year, the researchers observed that the cholesterol levels hadn't changed in the first group. The second group, however, showed an average reduction of 13% in their cholesterol levels.
